Observation

Dressing a baby in a onesie that proclaims him a "Sleepyhead" does not, in fact, make him sleep.

I don't want to embarrass him in front of the entire internets, but the boy has a gas problem. He seems to prefer sending it out the back door rather than the front. We're going off in search of Gripe Water today.

Haven't blogged much lately, but I'll be back, I swear!

The Gripe Water is a miracle.

Also, it doesn't much matter which end the gas escapes, as long as it does.

Keep up the proud toots, Thumpman.

Unbelievably, I have never heard of anything called Gripe Water. How can this be?! What is it, where do you get it, and does it work on old people with problems similar to Thump's?

I think it does - it claims to cure all kinds of gastro ills. It's made from oil of fennel. you could make some fennel tea and that would work too. Just take some roasted fennel seeds, crush them a bit, and pour some hot water over them. To keep out the flotsam, you could get fancy and wrap the seeds in cheese cloth if you don't have a teaball.
Or you could just find some at an herbal store, or someplace like Whole Foods. Let me know if it works for you!
We used a lot of it when JH was a baby - he had horrible gas, and it calmed him right down.

Gripe water never worked for me. But I think my kids were beyond natural intervention.

I'm hoping gripe water works better for you.

anniemcq recommended it in the comments here somewhere, though I can't recall the context now. It's fennel and ginger. I haven't tried it yet, but the look of consternation on his face when I give it to him makes me want to give it a swig. The pharmacy tech today said it worked wonders with her kid, though she also said he ended up needing some sort of prescription eventually anyway.
